Beginning Drawing
Step by STep
All Ages: 5 & Up / $140 / 8 Weeks
Beginning Drawing: Step by Step is a fun, challenging class for all ages. The lessons begin with sketching practice to strengthening foundation skills. Students create artwork by following step by step illustrated guides. Each drawing assignment begins with discovering simple shapes and lines that develop into images. Students learn a illustrative structure. The students start with a pencil sketch following the guides. A black and white drawing is completed by using a permanent black outline. Color is added using fun brush pens, markers and crayons.
The step by step illustrated guides are rendered in a simple carton like style. All classroom exercises are illustrated in individual take home sketchbooks. The class ends with a portfolio worthy color illustration by each student (framing option available ($20 -$30).

Beginning Painting
Color Excitement
All Ages: 7 & Up / $180 / 8 Weeks
Beginning Painting: Color Excitement is an enjoyable class that further develops the ideas of Beginning Drawing: Step by Step. Students create a detailed drawing by following step by step illustrated guides. A black and white drawing is completed by using a permanent back outline. Color is an expressive element of art. Beginning Painting: Color Excitement introduces color application with easy to use colored pencils, oil pastels, wide brushes and sponges.
The completed painting is a series of observations ranging from fine details to rendering light and shadow. Students will work from light to dark and background to foreground exploring contemporary ink wash painting techniques. All classroom exercises are saved in take home folders. The class ends with a portfolio worthy color painting by each student (framing option available ($20 -$30).

Advanced Drawing
Representational art
Ages: 10 & Up / $160 / 8 Weeks
Advanced Drawing: Representational Art introduces the foundation of learning to see and translate information to a drawing. This is a drawing class concentrating on building the skills needed to render representational art. The lessons incorporate sketching practice, creating guide lines, building structure and rendering details.
Students gain the ability to draw accurately. Advanced Drawing emphasizes observational skills and measuring and comparison tools. All classroom exercises are drawn in individual take home sketchbooks. The class ends with a black and white portfolio piece rendered with gray ink washes (assisted framing option available ($20 -$30).

Advanced Painting
Color and Form
Ages 10 & Up / $200/ 8 Weeks
Advanced Painting: Color and Form is a challenging class focusing on the necessity of planning a painting well before a brush is called to action. Students begin with an idea that is further developed into a sketch using reference. A strong drawing is the beginning to a great painting.
The completed painting is a series of observations ranging from fine details to rendering light and shadow. Students will work from light to dark and background to foreground exploring contemporary ink wash painting techniques. All classroom exercises are drawn in take home sketchbooks.
