Animals are always a great subject for painting. This rendition of snow leopards was the result of a commission request. I visited the Birmingham, Alabama zoo for reference material. I rented a great Cannon digital camera and lens. The background is painted in high key tones to bring out the colors of the snow leopards.

Portrait of Tiffany
artist's collection
This is one of my favorite paintings. It was one of my first attempts at understanding the effects of a high key palette. I tried to capture the feeling of direct sunlight on the subject. The color theory used in this painting was a harmonious split focusing on green to red. The little girl is all grown up now but this was a nice afternoon.

Resting in Naples
neil adams galleries / florida
This is the first painting I completed for a gallery in Florida depicting the Naples area. It was a good first attempt that set the bar at a good mark. I enjoy painting water scenes with reflections. I like the use of color and the perspective of the background gives the viewer a feel for the distance of the scene.

Perry's Lotus
private collection / new zealand
I enjoyed painting this painting as much as I like the results. This was my first attempt at a large canvas. The painting is five feet by seven feet and was the result of a visit to a national water flower grower in Franklin, North Carolina. Friends and I spent the afternoon looking at thousands of water lilies and lotus in football field sized ponds. The painting made a long journey all the way to New Zealand where it is in the very best of hands.

Painting any portrait is a great challenge. Painting a likeness of a well known person is even more so. This painting was a lot of fun and I'm pleased with how it turned out. I have a few students who are big Star Wars fans and thought they would like to see this painting.
